Practicing the ancient techniques and art of Shibori dyeing is a daily meditation for us here in the GXO studio. Shibori (from the verb root “shiboru” – “to wring, squeeze or press”[1]:7) is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique, which produces a number of different patterns on fabric. We take pride in taking our time in the folding process. The time we take to perfect our Shibori practice reveals the best possible patterns in the fabrics for the basis of our mask and tee shirt designs.
About the Construction
Built with form AND function in mind, we make our masks with the utmost quality, from our textile choices to the quality of the stitching. We created a specially molded design that fits the face allowing for better airflow and more breathe-ability for the wearer. We included a mask wire pocket in the design for easy replacement with 3 extra nose wires. (Aluminum wires break after about 40 bends) Our filter pockets are constructed to fit any size filter. We offer a matching Shibori tie-dyed 4 layer filter – sold separately. This mask is the ultimate in mask safety, comfort, and style.
